Georgia Flag Mug
The flag of Georgia was adopted in January 2004 after the so-called “rose revolution”, so it is one of the newest flags. At that time, it was the symbol of the National Movement of the newly elected President Saakashvili. It consists of a large red cross of St. George extending to the edges of the flag and four smaller red crosses placed in the center of each result field. The origin of the flag goes back to the 14th century, when an anonymous Franciscan monk mentioned the “white veil with five red crosses”. The cross is similar to the Jerusalem cross, used by the conquistadors of the Holy Land at a time when many monasteries were established in Georgia as an expression of their faith.
